Nick Johnsen

General Manager/Goalie Coach

Ice Barn Lead Goalie Instructor Nick Johnsen has learned from the best. For the past five summers, Johnsen, a native of St. Charles, Missouri, has studied under one of the best and most highly-respected goaltending coaches in the world, Mitch Korn. Korn, currently Director of Goaltending Development for the New York Islanders, has helped mold some of the best to ever play the game, including Pekka Rinne, Dominik Hasek, and Braden Holtby As a goalie-coaching disciple of Korn’s, it is Johnsen’s aim to turn Ice Barn into a hotbed for netminders, where they can really push themselves to their limits and develop their game. Nick has been the Director of Goaltending Development for the IYHA for the past three seasons, before moving to Indianapolis Johnsen was hired by other youth hockey organizations to run pop-up goalie clinics in Idaho Falls, ID, and Greenville, SC. Nick also used to work for Pure Hockey in Chesterfield, MO as the local Goalie Product Manager after, playing ACHA DII/DIII Hockey for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUe).

Dakota Eveland

Director of Curriculum

Dakota, who in addition to his excellent team-coaching resume, is a noted skills coach. Coach Eveland comes to Ice Barn from Anaheim, CA, where he has been coaching for the past 10 years. During this time, Dakota has worked with AAA, USHL, BCHL, NCAA D1, and AHL, Swedish Elite League, KHL, and NHL players.
Dakota’s background includes Biomechanics, Analytics, Video Review and Analysis. Dakota’s specialization is in stick-handling, shooting and skating skills.
Before coaching, Coach Eveland played for the USHL’s Omaha Lancers, Colorado College Tigers (NCAA D1), and he medaled for the USA National team in both roller and ice.

Justin Whited

Coach

Coach Justin played for the Indianapolis Racers and won a National Championship with their ’98 team. Justin also played for the U16 AAA Indiana Jr Ice. Whited also played summer and spring hockey for West Coast Selects and Bauer Selects. Justin is currently the Assistant Coach for the U14 AAA Indy Jr Fuel. At the Ice Barn Justin runs the Breakfast Club and select skills sessions.

Christina Zaitev

LTS Director

Christina is a former International competitor and U.S. National Team Member and one of the former Learn to Skate Directors for Winter Club of Indy. She competed in the Junior Grand Prix series in Latvia, Belarus, and Croatia (2013-2014). She is a two-time National Champion in Pairs Figure Skating, in addition to Winning and Medaling in numerous Sectional and Regional Championships.

Christina has assisted and coached with PSA Master Rated, World and Olympic Coach Serguei Zaitsev, and National Coach Elena Zaitsev at the Indiana/World Skating Academy and Indy Central FSC (Indianapolis, IN;2014-2019). She furthered freestyle coaching in Watertown, NY, as well as leading Power Classes and coaching in the Learn to Skate program for The Figure Skating Club of Watertown (2019-2022). In addition to coaching, she has obtained her Associate’s Degree in Business and is furthering her education in Marketing. With 19 years of experience in competitive figure skating and 8 years of coaching, her specialty areas include Freestyle and Pairs skating/elements, Stroking/skills, and Choreography.
